Privacy
Datum North keeps this simple, and means it.
What we collect. When you use the contact form, we receive what you choose to share — your name, email, and anything you write about what you're navigating, along with your organization and role if you provide them. If you email us directly, we receive your message and address. We also collect basic, privacy-respecting analytics about how the site is used.
What we deliberately don't collect. No advertising trackers, no marketing pixels, no cookies, no cross-site profiles, no purchased lists. The site does not attempt to identify visitors, and we do not sell or rent information — to anyone, for anything.
Analytics. We use Plausible, a cookieless analytics service that reports aggregate usage only. It does not track you across other websites and holds no personal identifiers about you.
Service providers. A small set of providers helps operate the site and correspondence: our hosting and form provider (Netlify), our analytics provider (Plausible), and our email and domain providers. Each receives only what its function requires. Beyond these, information is shared only where the law requires it.
How we use it. Solely to respond to your inquiry, assess whether an engagement makes sense, and improve the site.
A note on confidential material. Please don't send confidential, privileged, or transaction-sensitive information through the contact form or by email before confidentiality arrangements are in place. Anything received before then is handled discreetly and read only by the firm's managing principals — but discretion is not a confidentiality agreement, and the sequence exists to protect you. How an engagement establishes confidentiality is described here.
Retention. Inquiry information is kept as long as needed to respond and to assess a potential engagement, and then deleted. Information connected to an actual engagement is governed by the client agreement, which controls over this statement.
Your choices. You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the information you've shared at any time — email inquiries@datumnorth.com. Depending on your jurisdiction, you may hold additional rights over your personal information; we honor reasonable requests regardless of which statute makes them.
Security. The site is served over HTTPS; form submissions are encrypted in transit; access to inquiries is limited to the firm's managing principals.
Changes. If this statement changes materially, the date below changes with it. We don't quietly rewrite the terms of what you already shared.

Notices
No professional advice. The content of this site — including Perspectives, the point of view, and descriptions of selected work — is general commentary. It is not legal, audit, accounting, tax, investment, or other regulated professional advice, and it is not advice to any particular institution.
No advisory relationship. Reading this site, or submitting an inquiry through it, does not create an advisory, fiduciary, or client relationship with Datum North. That relationship is created only by a written engagement agreement.
Selected work. Published cases are anonymized and classified under the firm's evidence policy, stated on the selected work page. They describe how the firm's principals approached specific past situations; they are not a promise of outcome in yours.
